President: Courtney Huckabee

Major: Pre-Nursing

Hi, I’m Courtney, and I’m the new president! I’m from a small town in southern Missouri called Jackson. I am currently a pre-nursing sophomore here at Mizzou and am applying to the clinical major in the fall. After graduation, I am interested in becoming an emergency department nurse, but am still open to any specialty really.
I am so proud to be a part of MU women in stem because I truly value the many important aspects women are able to bring into male dominated fields. By joining this organization, I have been surrounded by inspirational women who are passionately pursuing their careers. I am so excited to accept the role of president this year, and am looking forward to meeting more amazing women in stem!

Major: Pre-Nursing, Labor and Delivery

"Hi, my name is Olivia, and I’m the new vice president! I’m from Clinton, Missouri (an hour south of kc). I am a sophomore working towards my BSN to become a labor and delivery nurse. I chose to be a part of MU women in STEM because I think it’s so important to represent and recognize women working in male dominated fields! I took some PLTW classes in high school and loved them!."

Outreach Coordinator: Hayley Sims
Major: Pre-Nursing, Trauma

Hi! My name is Hayley and I’m the new Outreach Coordinator! I’m originally from St. Louis but I’ve moved around my whole life due to being in a military family. The coolest place I’ve lived has been Germany! I’m a sophomore who recently switched my major from biochemistry to pre-nursing. I would love to work as an emergency room and trauma nurse! I chose to be a part of MU Women in STEM because we are an underrepresented group in, what has been historically, men dominated fields. In today’s day and age, women are breaking the glass ceiling and showing the world what we have to say. Since I was a little girl, I have always loved science. I would geek out over getting a microscope set to look at bugs I caught in the yard. It is so important for young women today to have a support system of like-minded peers to cheer them on to accomplish their goals and dreams. I hope that MU Women in STEM is the right place for the women at the University of Missouri to find that support system as they work diligently in their studies.
